Best Water Bottle? Ranked for Insulation, Durability, Cleaning, and 6 More

I tested and ranked 22 bottles, including Owala, YETI, Stanley, Hydro Flask, and over a dozen other brands. The full list of criteria tested includes whether it’s leak-free, best insulation, best durability, easiest to clean, best handle, least cumbersome, most affordable, most car-friendly, and most popular.

You’ll also see our “Best Bottle” spreadsheet, which lets you rank each of these criteria based how important each one is to you to get your own personalized recommendations. This lets you take all these different criteria into account more easily to find out which bottle might be the best fit for you and your lifestyle.

CUP ADAPTERS:
Swigzy:
This one can be extended taller if you buy the right version, and you can also offset the base which can help with some vehicles and when you want to use two adapters side-by-side.

BottlePro Max:
This is our 3rd gen cup holder adapter. It doesn’t have a much adjustability as Swigzy, but it’s a good all-around adapter that’s more affordable.

YOUR BOTTLE RECOMMENDATIONS (EXCEL SPREADSHEET)
Google Drive:

It’s just a simple Excel file, but if you’re not comfortable downloading it this way, send me a message on bottlepro.net and I’ll email it to you.

To get your list of recommended bottles:
1) Download the file. You won’t be able to edit it while it’s on my Google Drive, so download it first then add your rankings for each criteria.
2) Click the 1st sheet “Start (Ranking).”
3) Rank each of the 9 criteria based on your preferences.
4) Click the 2nd sheet “Your Recommendations.”
5) Click the sort button on “Total” (cell X7), then sort from largest to smallest. This re-arranges the list, and the bottles with the highest point totals are the best possible matches for you.
6) Review all the other info like the handle type to really hone in on what you’d prefer, and consider how different lids and sizes could change things too.
7) To see current pricing, click the hyperlinks on the “Link to Listing” column (column AG). Most go to Amazon, but Ozark Trail goes to Walmart.

  1. CORRECTIONS AND UPDATES
It’s a lot of data and info, and inevitably I was bound to get some things wrong. Here’s the list of changes as I make them. Unfortunately I can’t update the video itself, but I’ll keep these in mind for future videos and have updated the downloadable spreadsheet to reflect these changes.

    LINK TO SPREADSHEET
You won’t be able to edit the file on my Google Drive, so download the Excel and rank your criteria from there. I’ll add a Google Sheets version soon.

    June 23, 2025, Iceflow Cleaning:
It turns out I do have the Stanley Iceflow 1.0 after all. I must have seen some mislabeled images or had a brain fart after that many hours of video editing and research. Stanley’s Iceflow 2.0 is much easier to clean than you saw in this video and has the same style spout as the ProTour lid. Increased the cleaning rankings in the spreadsheet. Thanks to everyone who pointed this out.

    July 3, 2025, Insulation Changes:
Moved RevoMax, Klean Kanteen, and Owala FreeSip from C to B and Quencher and ProTour from D to C. Realized these were more natural break points. (originally I had made some adjustments to try and factor in some other tests I’ve done before like hot tests, but I realized it made more sense to focus on these recent cold water tests since that’s what I showed in the video)

    July 3, 2025, Camelbak Durability:
Increased from C to B after seeing enough of your comments about how the hinge has not worn out after years and years of use (thanks for the comments about it!).

July 24, 2025: Corrected some links and corrected some errors on lid type column. Made it compatible with Google Sheets.

September 6, 2025: Added Simple Modern’s Mesa Loop

  2. Could add one more factor – weight. I am struggling with some of them as they are kind of heavy and bulky to carry around. Thanks for making this VDO.

  3. I wish I had seen this yesterday, before I ordered my Brumate Era (in the same color as yours, too)! It was a close choice between the Brumate and the Yet Rambler – I had both in my cart – but I eventually chose the Brumate. Now I know that the Brumate will probably fit my lifestyle more, but the Yeti definitely has the lasting power that I like in my bottles. Maybe I’ll get the Yeti as well?
